BREAKING: Strike continues as HEC and UCU Branches reject deal

The University and Colleges Union has withdrawn the pension deal proposed yesterday evening.

After meeting with the Higher Education Committee and Branch representatives, UCU union leadership have withdrawn the proposed pension deal.

The proposal required approval by both individual UCU branches and UCU’s Higher Education Committees. In total, 49 universities voted overwhelmingly to reject the proposal, which would have seen pension reforms come into place in 2022. As a result, UCU industrial action will continue.

On Thursday 8 March, UCU announced a further fourteen days of strike action across the UK.
